Perfect Job Interview (video)

With the economy in the tank, looking for and finding a job is more difficult than ever. There are many companies hiring but what is going to get you the job and not the person next to you in line? One of the first things a company looks at obviously is your resume. Without a great resume, your chances of getting in the door for an interview is slim to none.

There are some great resources online about how to present yourself during a personal interview. The Brazen Careerist has an article on how to get a job you’re not qualified for. Once you are in front of the company you need to stand out. This video explains exactly what NOT to do.

    I have interviewed probably over 500 people in my career for engineers, admins and mangers. Can’t say I’ve been propositioned though (I’m a guy btw) but that’s probably about the only thing I haven’t seen. I am never ever surprised at the discrepancy between a resume and the actual candidate. I have often wondered how you could remove or reduce the burden of the personal interview but it’s just not possible. Even outsourcing for pre-interview, in my experience, does not yield the better results it should.
